First-year player TreVeyon Henderson has recorded five scores in the present year
New England matched their top unbeaten stretch from the Tom Brady period as they beat division rivals the New York Jets 27-14 in professional football
First-year standout TreVeyon Henderson was the standout with three TDs as the New England squad secured an eighth consecutive victory for the first time since legendary quarterback Tom Brady's final season with the franchise in 2019
Quarterback Maye accumulated 281 yards and a score, completing 25 out of 34 attempts
The triumph increases the New England's lead at the summit of the division as they advanced to a 9-2 record, with the Jets bottom after slipping to a 2-8 mark
The opposing team had scored first at their home field with quarterback Fields running in a five-yard TD to finish the Jets' first possession
But the Patriots answered in the second period as Henderson rushed for two short rushing scores before the running back caught a pass from Drake Maye at the back of the endzone in the middle of the third quarter to extend the lead to 21 to 7
"It was a key occasion for him delivering, and it's been fantastic for him to keep gaining experience," Maye commented on Henderson. "He aims to be outstanding."
Fields found John Metchie late in the third quarter to narrow the deficit for the visitors but Andy Borregales kicked a two field goals in the final period as the home side sealed the triumph
